Homework Procedures

Students will be assigned homework that consists of daily reading practice and a monthly calendar. The calendar is secured in the middle of the D.O.G. folder.  Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday the students will have one assignment to complete.  Some assignments are written while others are activities for you to do with your child orally.  All written assignments will have work paper included in the folder.  Please help your child complete the work each night and return the folder every day.

D.O.G. Folder

Our class uses a Daily Organizational Guide or D.O.G. folder each day.  The plastic coated folder has brads that help contain important class information, such as, the monthly homework calendar, handwriting sample sheet, monthly calendar of events, extra writing paper, contact information, and a zipper pouch for notes and daily reading books.  I also labeled each pocket with "right back to school" on the right side and "left at home" on the left side. Each Friday the folder will contain all of the work for the past week and the weekly newsletter. Please look over your child's work and file it at home.  We spend the first week discussing the value of the folder and I stress the importance of taking responsibility of the D.O.G. folder.  I believe good organizational skills are the key to success!!

Volunteers

Please see me or send me an email if you are interested in becoming a volunteer in our classroom. There will be several opportunities to assist throughout the school year, such as field trips, parties, creating center activities, etc.  Don’t forget that all volunteers will need to stop by the church office before coming to the classroom.

Dress for School

Please dress your child appropriately for the weather.  We will go outside every day (as long as it is not raining).  Don't forget to write your child's name on all removable clothing (coat, hat, gloves, etc.).  I want to make sure all items make it back home!
